The Best Taco Seasoning
You can use this rub for chicken, beef and pork. I would not however recommend for seafood unless it is a fish that stands up well to cumin; for example mahi or swordfish. This recipe is simple but has a bunch of flavor. I would also suggest using an acid, for example the 5 pepper vinegar recipe to enhance the marinade. Acid breaks down the protein and makes it more tender after it is cooked. This recipe is basically equal parts all ingredients, therefore if you need more just adjust accordingly.
For the rub
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablesloon ground garlic
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon mexican oregano
1 tablespoon lime or lemon zest
3/4 lb of your favorite protein.
Combine all ingtedients and let sit for a minimum of 8 hour. As mentioned before, add 1 tablespoon of chile vinegar if you are a spicy fan. Please see recipe for 5 pepper vinegar
